North Carolina Humane Lobby Day is an event co-sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals, Susie’s Law and North Carolina Voters for Animal Welfare. Citizen animal advocates like you gather to learn and practice lobbying for animal protection laws at the state level. It is a full-day event including a lobbying workshop, an overview of relevant bills in your state legislature and meeting with your representatives. [Sign up] But I’m not a professional lobbyist. I won’t know what to say to my legislators! You don’t have to be a professional, all you have to do is voice your support for animal bills with your legislators. Even if you have no knowledge of this years animal bills, that’s OK! There will be a briefing with tips for lobbying, and an overview of pending animal legislation that will prepare you to meet your elected officials and advocate for animals. And you most likely won’t be alone when meeting your your elected officials, as meetings are arranged with groups of advocates in the same district.
