NC Dept. of Agriculture prefers voluntary breeder law

Steve Troxler, commissioner of the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, prefers a “voluntary” program in which breeders could choose to seek some sort of certification to indicate they’re responsible rather than have to undergo inspections each year, said spokesman Brian Long. Peaceful Puppy Mill Protest, February 23rd

Join us this February 23rd for a protest at Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, NC. We will be carrying signs and we have flyers to hand out. There is a pet store in the Mall but we cannot protest that particular store OR the Mall itself. The agenda is to create awareness as to where pet stores get their dogs. We are hoping for a big turnout!! These Puppy Mills must be stopped.

Please dress warmly!! Also, the permit states that we must stay on the sidewalk. We cannot block any entrances and cannot go into the Mall itself or parking lot as this is private property. Thank you in advance for your support and tell all your friends as well!!

Where: Hanes Mall 3320 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC – SOUTH entrance off of Hanes Mall Blvd. on the sidewalk

When: Saturday, February 23, 2013. 11:00am until 3:00pm

RSVP on Facebook here. Or just show up!

Veterinarians against Puppy Mills

Is YOUR veterinarian against puppy mills?

The assumption would be yes. These are professionals that have been educated and trained to diagnose and treat diseases and injuries in animals. Of all people, they would know the impact of unscrupulous breeder operations that provide no veterinarian care for their animals.American Veterinary Medical Association has revised the oath taken by graduates of U.S. veterinary schools to stress the importance of animal welfare as well as animal health. Puppy mills do not protect the health or the welfare of dogs.Veterinarians are pillars in the animal welfare community and we need their endorsements of the Commercial Breeder bill to make state legislators understand that we need a law to protect dogs in large scale breeder options.

TAKE ACTION

Email this form or fax this form to your veterinarian asking their endorsement of a law to protect dogs in puppy mills.
