North Carolina rescue dogs sold illegally for profit in Northeast US

HICKORY –Recent animal cruelty charges in New Jersey against a Newton woman have exposed the hidden practice of selling rescued dogs for profit. The animals,often gotten for free or at minimal cost,are taken to states in the northeast and sold as part of established underground businesses. Read more

North Carolina Voters for Animal Welfare in the latest issue of the ‘Humane Activist’

We were in the latest issue of the Humane Society Legislative Fund magazine Humane Activist. The writeup talks about the recent possible closure of the animal welfare section that inspects shelters.  “Advocates called from every county,and state legislators listened;the revised budget proposal not only retains the division but increases funding for additional inspectors.”

Humane Society:Lobbying 101
